SPORTSTRACK uses GPS for precise positioning and GPRS transmission to pin
-point and publish your position; this unique integration of technologies makes SPORTSTRACK the ideal real time movement monitor.
Environmental data including temperature, altitude and speed are recorded alongside every position plotted on a map. Latitude and longitude and displayed on the unit and these points are continuously plotted, providing an ongoing flow of information that is converted from data to a displayed route through integration with Google Earth™. This gives the viewer a sense of the surroundings that you are passing through if viewed live – and when you review the data at a later stage, you are able to see where you have been. By integrating with Google Earth™, you have many options on how you view the information: you can change the plane on which you view the route, you can remove or add layers of surrounding information – depending on how much detail you want, etc. You can also have a snap-shot of the map sent to you – or to any email address that you choose – to save for later use or historical reference. This information can be mailed to you as a data file in KML or as a picture file.
SPORTSTRACK ’s integrated GSM technology allows you to receive calls and SMS’s – although you cannot make calls
or send SMS’s from the unit. An incoming call from your designated emergency contact will automatically be answered by
the unit and you will be able to have a normal conversation.
Having SPORTSTRACK assures your personal security with E-Mode, and if something happens outside GSM coverage, rescuers know your last position. The unit will continue to gather information, even if there is no GSM coverage. Once coverage is re-established, all the information will be sent and your position will be known. So, if you’ve moved whilst there was no coverage, your position will be updated, and if you have not, then an observer would know your exact last position.
Use SPORTSTRACK ’s E-Mode to send an emergency SMS / email to the SPORTSTRACK server and to your chosen contact. In the event of an emergency, you are able to press the E-Mode button combination and the emergency notification is sent to the SPORTSTRACK server. If this fails to be acknowledged by the server, it will be re-sent every 16 seconds until it is acknowledged. At the same time, the SPORTSTRACK will attempt to send a position immediately, and then repeat is position based on the normal speed-based transmit interval. When the unit is in E-Mode the display will show E-Mode Active (in place of speed), and the unit will auto-answer incoming cell phone calls. When the unit is returned to normal, the server is notified, auto-call-answer cancelled, and speed will again display on the screen.
SPORTSTRACK’s live data pinpoints your location, even if you are lost. Because the unit is always transmitting
information about its whereabouts, your location is always known – even if you don’t know where you are. An observer
can find you on the mapping system and direct you to where you need to be. At the same time, the status of your
SPORTSTRACK unit is recorded, so the viewer can see if you are stationary or moving – and your speed if you are travelling.
SPORTSTRACK is an ideal training tool, giving coaches and team managers the ability of viewing and communicating
with athletes at any time. A coach is able to watch the whole team perform together, or can monitor an individual athlete’s movements by selecting to view the specific athlete's SPORTSTRACK. Coaches are then able to send messages to their team members informing them of a change of tactics or telling what to expect on the course ahead of them. Coaches and team managers are able to view multiple units simultaneously, and so are able to compare the performance of the athletes in their charge. They are also able to zoom in or out of the mapping system so that they can be as close to their team as they wish
to be. SPORTSTRACK also holds its history perpetually – you can view where you have been at any time. You are able to
pick the time and date that you wish to see and you will be given all the information available in data or map format. This is a
useful feature for serious athletes who wish to view their improving performance.
Involve your friends in your adventures by sharing a unique, time-expiring access key with them. Each SPORTSTRACK unit allows for you to give an access key to people with whom you wish to share your adventures. This key is given entirely at your own discretion, and is unique in that you determine when you will allow access to your data. You set the period that you are viewable. This facility allows you to re-assign the key, give a new key to someone else and control who sees you and when they see you. Anyone who has access to your unit with this key will be able to see where you are and download information on you and your whereabouts.
Your privacy is assured. You decide who receives your E-Mode message or sees your data. SPORTSTRACK does not give out personal information at any time. Your confidentiality is assured and only you can give permission to another person to view your information. You can use your SPORTSTRACK anywhere in the world as it is compatible with data roaming. This means that your position anywhere in the world can be viewed – providing that there is GSM coverage - both on any computer and on any java-enabled mobile device. Currently, the engineers at SPORTSTRACK are investigating ways to take advantage of the additional functionality that Symbian phones offer.

SPORTSTRACK offers benefits over and above the sport applications. SPORTSTRACK functions such as safety
device in a vehicle in much the same way as it does on an individual person.
An owner of a fleet can place SPORTSTRACK in vehicles and using the same web interface as an athlete or coach can monitor the progress of the fleet. This offers owners versatile fleet tracking using the same SPORTSTRACK during the week as that person uses while exploring over weekends. SPORTSTRACK do produce a vehicle-specific ST-V that can be concealed by a qualified auto-electrician and draw power from the vehicle's battery. ST-V does use different operating software specifically optimised for the vehicle application.
